Commissions
Interested in a piece made specifically for you? There’s a form at the bottom of this page, but first here’s how the commission process works…
1. Get in touch
Tell me what you have in mind: a subject, a style, a size, a room it’s going in, a feeling you want it to carry. The more context the better, but a rough idea is enough to start the conversation.
2. We talk through the details
I’ll ask questions. What kind of space is this for? Are there colors it needs to work with, or colors you want to avoid? Is there a specific image in mind, or are you describing a mood? Do you have a deadline?
This back-and-forth is where the idea starts to take shape. I’ll let you know if something isn’t going to work the way you’re imagining, and I’ll suggest things you might not have thought of.
3. A quote and timeline
Once we’ve established scope, I’ll give you a quote and an estimated completion time. Pricing is based on size, complexity, and materials. Paintings in acrylic on canvas are the most common format, but other materials are possible.
A deposit is required to begin work.
4. Work begins
I’ll share progress photos as the piece develops. You’ll have an opportunity to weigh in before the painting is finished.
5. Delivery
Finished pieces can be picked up locally (Fernandina Beach, FL) or shipped. Shipping costs are in addition to the commission price. I take care of proper packaging.
What I do well
- Live scenes — musicians, performers, crowds, the energy of a moment
- Portraits and figures — people, animals, characters real and imagined
- Narrative and fantastical imagery — work that tells a story or inhabits a specific world
- Site-specific work — paintings made for a particular place or event
What to know
- I don’t make exact replicas of existing work. If you love a painting that’s already sold, we can talk about something in the spirit of it.
- The process involves creative judgment on my end. If you want total control over every element, a commission may not be the right fit.
- Rush work may be possible but carries an additional fee.
